This year’s participants in our flagship program Leading IMPACT \u2013 Executive Management & Leadership Program have now completed the first three modules. We asked one of the participants, Pernilla Oskarsson, Regional Manager at Smile Dental, about her experiences of the program so far.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Leading IMPACT \u2013 Executive Management & Leadership Program is a 15-month management program that strongly connects to the reality and strategic challenges of the participants and is developed based on more than 20 years of experience in Executive MBA programs.<\/p>\n

In October, a new group of Leading Impacters started, who have now completed the first three modules, which have focused on leadership and strategy. One of the participants, Pernilla Oskarsson, Regional Manager at Smile Tandv\u00e5rd, describes her experiences:<\/p>\n

You have now completed the first three modules of Leading IMPACT. What is your experience of the program so far?
\n<\/strong>The education and the teachers are of a very high standard. It has been a mixture of theory, lecture, discussion, and creative work. In a very well-thought-out and wise way, the first module laid the foundation for creating a safe environment in the group and this has given us great conditions for cooperation between the participants. There is a consistent connection to our respective businesses, which makes the training very relevant for everyone.<\/p>\n

What is your biggest take aways after these three modules?
\n<\/strong>Oh, it’s almost hard to articulate. I bring a lot of things with me after each module. Now I have an updated model for coaching conversations, a structure for environmental analysis and I have gained new perspectives on alternative organizational structures. Just to mention a few things.<\/p>\n

Can you already see the value of the education and take insights\/learnings with you and apply them in your everyday work?
\n<\/strong>Absolutely! Each module has added new knowledge and models that are directly useful in my everyday work-life. We have gained access to a lot of tools, and I will be able to use many of them for a long time to come.<\/p>\n

What would you say to someone who is considering taking the program next year?
\n<\/strong>I hadn’t hesitated for a second. There is direct value for both the individual participant and the employer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"

You will be trained to think creatively about business models in order to lead your organization’s development in a sustainable way in an increasingly fast-changing market with new opportunities and pitfalls. The program provides the tools, learning, inspiration and innovative thinking needed to rethink your company’s unique opportunities and to take these from thought to action. Tell us about Creating Foresight.<\/h2>\n<p>In short, the Creating Foresight module is about trying to understand the macro environment and how global trends and events can affect, directly or indirectly, a company and its operations. Using models and methods, we try to identify opportunities and risks to equip ourselves for the future.<\/p>\n<h2>You were the case owners – tell us about the case.<\/h2>\n<p>At SmiLe Incubator, we support life science start-ups with business development and commercialization, and we are part of an international ecosystem that aims to bring innovations to market. In our case, we wanted to explore which macro factors can affect organizations like ours and thereby SmiLe\u2019s goal to become a leading incubator in Europe.<\/p>\n<h2>As a business, what value did you take away?<\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s a fantastic opportunity to get help from an entire group of experienced course participants who have insight into our business and our challenges and who are engaged. It\u2019s easy to have blinders on, and I figured that we got roughly 80 hours of \u201cmanagement consulting\u201d through the exercise! Each customer has a customer-specific Boxon team where we work toward common goals in dialogue with the customer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What qualities are important to succeed in your role?<\/strong><br \/>\nI would say that being good at building relationships and being responsive are very important.\u00a0These qualities make it easier to build a win-win situation with the customer. In turn, this makes it easier to plan joint strategies in both the short and long term.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You\u2019re starting Leading IMPACT in October. What made you choose Leading IMPACT?<\/strong><br \/>\nMost of all, it was my desire to develop as both a person and a leader. The decision then took root in dialogue with my employer, Boxon AB.<\/p>\n<p><strong>And why did you choose Leading IMPACT over other options?<\/strong><br \/>\nLeading IMPACT has an interesting structure where both Boxon AB and I invest jointly. The IMPACT Challenge I bring in with me will lead to development for both Boxon and I. This is a really exciting and interesting structure where you are challenged, develop and put in practice what you learn throughout the Leading IMPACT program.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What are your expectations?<\/strong><br \/>\nI have very high expectations for myself and for Leading IMPACT. I look forward to both sharing and learning from everyone\u2019s IMPACT Challenge, which will be very inspiring. I also hope to develop and mature even more as a leader by working closely with program management, subject matter experts and impact coaches during the program, but also by learning from all the participants\u2019 thoughts and reflections on what we will do together.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Please tell us about yourself and your background<\/strong><br \/>\nI’m 47 years old and started at Boxon 17 years ago as an inside sales representative. Over the years, I have had various roles, which created a solid foundation and understanding for those around me. I love sports and played handball for many years before switching over to coaching. You\u2019re starting Leading IMPACT in the fall. What made you choose Leading IMPACT?<\/strong><br \/>\nI wanted a challenge that is aligned with my future development and career. My manager inspired me and made a point of sharing his opinion that taking Leading Impact would suit me well. The program is timely, and I think the mix of content is perfect. I think it will help me develop both as a leader and as a person, in addition to giving me much knowledge to bring into our exciting future.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What made you choose Leading Impact in particular?<\/strong><br \/>\nInnovation, digital leadership and strategy development with a focus on the future\u00a0are key parts of the program content for me.\u00a0I also like the structure of work on real-life business challenges in teams and the ability to involve my local teams. Leading Impact feels hands-on and being able to dive into the process directly without too much theory suits me well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What expectations do you have?<\/strong><br \/>\nIt will be fun to work with like-minded people and challenge each other in this program.\u00a0I expect to gain new knowledge, new tools and a new network. I would like to work on being a better leader of tomorrow, given that much will change in a short period of time. I want to be up to the challenge and play a driving role as a leader.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tell us about your role at Kloosterboer<\/strong><br \/>\nIn my position as Implementation Manager, I am responsible for development efforts for Sweden and the Nordic market. My team comprises technical project managers and system specialists. We engage in system development, new system implementation, technical solutions and integration. My team is often involved when Kloosterboer starts up new facilities and write specifications or conducts tests.\u00a0We also work on improving existing processes and supporting operations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What qualities are important to succeed in your role?<\/strong><br \/>\nOne key quality for succeeding in my role is knowing my way around methods and tools that provide a structured capability to see into the future but also challenge the present. Usually I’m the one who provides the structure and helps my team succeed with their projects. I’m a process thinker and I always have something to contribute \u2013 you\u2019ve got to be quick on your feet.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How would you describe your leadership style?<\/strong><br \/>\nAs a leader, I am passionate about developing people. I do that by challenging individuals to go a step further and learn to reflect on their performance. This involves considering the <em>what\u00a0<\/em>and the <em>how\u00a0<\/em>of tasks and challenges both small and large.\u00a0I know my way around many methods and tools for lean leadership, which I often can rely on to get the job done. This provides the stability that enables me to ask the right questions and be creative. It’s an automated high-bay warehouse with several customers that has space to store over 70,000 pallets and rotates 7 vehicles per hour. What made you decide to apply to Leading Impact?<\/strong><br \/>\nI feel a need to learn more about business development and operations and sharpen my tools and models for successfully managing and leading a company. It’s easy to get stuck in your own little world, and I think I have a lot to learn by looking beyond the region and my world. This includes everything from performing daily procedures to training, skills development and patient safety. I eagerly look forward to receiving input, getting to meet people from other sectors and industries, and seeing how they work.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How did you come across Leading Impact?<\/strong><br \/>\nA colleague of mine took EFL\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/executivemba.se\/\">Executive MBA<\/a> program and had great things to say about it. This recommendation prompted me to read up on EFL’s successor to that program, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leadingimpact.se\/\">Leading Impact<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What do you look forward to most in the program?<\/strong><br \/>\nI eagerly look forward to getting to meet people from other sectors and industries and learning from how they work. I also look forward to new models and useful tools for successful business development.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tell us about your role at Folktandv\u00e5rden V\u00e4stmanland AB<\/strong><br \/>\nI have served as head of development at our headquarters for the past seven years This role is multifaceted and involves working closely with the CEO and being involved in many decisions and the development of the entire company.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What challenges do you come across?<\/strong><br \/>\nIn my industry, competition for talent is very fierce, so our greatest challenge is definitely attracting and retaining talent in our company.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How would you describe your leadership style?<\/strong><br \/>\nFirst and foremost, communicative! '410px' : 'auto');\n\t\t}\n\t\t<\/style>\n\t\t\n<p>The February residency session marks a third of the way through the program for the Leading IMPACT Executive Management and Leadership Program participants. \u201cPolitics, Money Markets and Return on Investment\u201d were on the agenda for the three-day session led by EFL staff Fredrik NG Andersson, Andreas Bergh and Joakim Wernberg.<\/p>\n<p>The participants engaged in a role-playing exercise as central banks and countries where the simulation involved trying to avoid a financial crisis. The participants also worked on megatrends and social developments related to finance, digitalization and the climate along with risk analyses.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the \u201cPolitics, Money Markets and Return on Investment\u201d module is to increase the participants\u2019 understanding of global markets, economic policies and key technical and social megatrends that will likely reshape the global economy in the future. Until next fall, the program will largely revolve around mastering the business tools that play a decisive role in leading and developing companies. The participants recently got together for a residential session on the topic of \u201cTaking the lead\u201d. You recently had a residential session on the topic of \u201cTaking the lead\u201d \u2013 what was it about?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_645\" style=\"width: 362px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-645\" class=\"size-full wp-image-645\" src=\"https:\/\/www.efl.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/EFL_MRS_C_Adam_Jomaa_5010_352x297px.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"352\" height=\"297\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-645\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Adam Jomaa, Team Manager Quality at Kraftringen<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The residential session took up the broad field of leadership, with a focus on change management. We went over various leadership theories and scrutinized them from a variety of perspectives, because there is no \u201cbest way\u201d that can always be used. Context is king when it comes to leadership. Therefore, an approach that worked in a certain country, at a certain point in time, in a certain type of organizational culture is not directly transferable to another context.<\/p>\n<h3>How was the session structured?<\/h3>\n<p>Prior to the residential session, we read up on leadership and held feedback discussions with employees from our organizations to map our core qualities and challenges in our roles as leaders. This paved the way for fruitful group discussions reinforced with inspiring lectures. Our Impact Challenges are always present during the program, and we apply the new insights we gain to these business challenges in real time to ensure the best ROI in terms of both our learning and the value added for our organizations.<\/p>\n<h3>What were your best takeaways?<\/h3>\n<p>In my role, change management is a major part of my work, and I took away several smart approaches for how to adapt my leadership to the differing nature of each challenge I face.<\/p>\n<h3>Do you feel that you benefited from the rest of the group’s expertise?<\/h3>\n<p>The group discussions and our regular reflections are valuable, and we group participants learn a lot from each other. There’s a good mix of different organizations, experiences and personalities in the group, and everyone works hard.
